Events
Thursday – 16 November 2023
Central Otago Wine Tour (starting 1pm from Wānaka)
We’ve picked out some cool vineyards around Wānaka and have organized a group wine tour for tastings and small bites. This will be an adults-only event. 🙂
Friday – 17 November 2023
Hike + Welcome Dinner
Hiking was a big part of our first New Zealand trip together as a couple, and we’re excited to spend a day doing it with you! There will be a few guided hikes for you to choose from, and then we’ll end the day with a welcome dinner.
Saturday – 18 November 2023
The Big Day!
Not much we want to reveal for this, except that we’re super excited to invite you to Rippon Hall for our ceremony, reception, and after-party. Be prepared for an evening of eating, drinking, and dancing! Dress code: cocktail attire.
Sunday – 19 November 2023
Recovery BBQ
In the spirit of recovery and reflection, join us for an outdoor Kiwi barbie. There will be plenty of food, lighter drinks, and a whole lot of Mandy and Thom reflecting on how life may or may not change post-marriage. Open to advice and speculation.

Flights
We strongly recommend flying in and out of Queenstown Airport, which is the closest and most convenient entry and exit point, just 1 hour’s drive from Wānaka.
Alternatively, you can fly into Christchurch International Airport for a longer, more scenic 5-hour drive to Wānaka.

Getting to Wānaka / Car Hire
Driving is by far the best way to see and experience New Zealand! We recommend renting a car to drive to Wānaka itself and to explore the rest of the South Island.
Please see the links below to see what’s available:
– From Queenstown – click here
– From Christchurch – click here
We have been offered a 10% discount on car hire via Thrifty using code 12234667
We’ve reserved some apartments in Wānaka for three nights (16-19 November). These are centrally located, personally vetted, and multi-bedroom apartments that we got at a good rate! In the interest of community, we’re trying to keep everyone together and plan to put you in apartments with friends/family you know and would be comfortable with!
Please let us know in your RSVP if you would like to stay at one of them, or prefer to arrange your own accommodation.
Things to do in Wānaka
We chose Wānaka not only because it’s stunning, but also because there are plenty of cool things to do!
Some of our favorites are:
Food + drink:
Click this link for restaurants and bars we enjoyed!
Hiking + walking:
- Roy’s Peak (5-6 hours)
- Isthmus Peak (5-7 hours)
- Grandview Mountain Track (4-6 hours)
- Diamond Lake & Rocky Mountain (2-3 hours)
- Sawyer Burn Track (2 hours)
- Mt. Iron Walk (1-2 hours)
Other adventures:
Please RSVP by May 1st, so we can have an accurate headcount and finalize our planning.
Due to space constraints, we might not be able to accommodate your plus ones. If we haven’t explicitly invited your partner, please reach out to us for more details!
We love kids. Let us know if you are planning to bring yours, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them!
Babysitting services are also available if needed.
November is spring in Wānaka, and the weather is generally mild to warm, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 16°C to 23°C (61°F to 73°F).
The wedding will be largely outdoor, but we’ll bring the party inside if/when the temperature drops!
Cocktail attire!
Ladies, come in a summery dress, gown, or jumpsuit. Do not wear stilettos! Most of the wedding will take place on grass so we suggest chunky heels or dressy flats.
Gentlemen, come in your favorite button-down collared shirt. Feel free to accessorize with a jacket or tie, but keep it classy and refrain from wearing shorts and sandals.
Venue transport will be provided on the day – more information to come.
Please, no gifts! However cliché, your presence is truly all we want.
Feel free to drop a WA message to Amanda (+65 8428 2344) or Thom (+1 646 640-7780) with any questions you may have (or just to say hi :))
